I've faced the pursuer's greatsword. And i've never been killed by it, not once. So i find it hard to believe personally that it's overpowered. Stunlock the, roll away, come back. Or even try to parry, given it is an ultra greatsword. If every other ultra greatsword is incapable of holding a prolonged stunlock, then yes, it is weird.
The King's Ultra does strike damage. It's functionally a greathammer and lacks the tremendous reach of the best greathammers. I'd rather use (say) a Dragon Tooth though the King's Ultra will generally out-damage it. In the end I usually opt for the Greatsword. It's good. Fume UGS has higher damage and breaks the poise of enemies more easily but Greatsword has a better moveset IMO.
